I can say it over and over again, but the truth in God's ridiculous love doesn't weaken: His love is not reasonable... Not to say He's not a god of reason, but that He defies it for us. I love the moments when a song gets stuck in my head or I see a bit of grace somewhere unexpected or I hear a word from a brother or sister and my wandering mind is miraculously focused. In those moments the clearest thing to me, so far above my views on any theological quandary, is that my sweet and terrifying God is sweetly and
terrifyingly in love with us.I have been totally blown away with revelations on Pride, Trust, Orthopraxy, but it is never as severe as when my mind attempts to wrap itself around Love. Even in those quiet, often short episodes I am left different. It breaks me in the best way. When I spend more than a few minutes meditating I'm left paralyzed. I so enjoy learning more about Christianity - it's history, it's traditions, it's teachings - but if I never gained any more knowledge, but spent the rest of my life diving deeper into this Love, I would not be sorry.
We can choose to meditate on love and let it affect us, let it move us to live a different life. Or we can choose the same degradation we've chosen before and perpetuate the brokenness.
Surely We Can Change by David Crowder Band
And the problem is this:
We were bought with a kiss
But the cheek still turned
Even when it wasn't hit
And I don't know
What to do with a love like that
And I don't know
How to be a love like that
When all the love in the world
is right here among us
And hatred, too
So we must choose
What our hands will do
Where there is pain
Let us bring grace
Where there is suffering
Bring serenity
For those afraid
Help them be brave
Where there is misery
Bring expectancy
And surely we can change...
Something
And the problem it seems
Is with you and me
Not the Love who came
To repair everything
When all the love in the world
is right here among us
And hatred, too
So we must choose
What our hands will do
Where there is pain
Let us bring grace
Where there is suffering
Bring serenity
For those afraid
Let us be brave
Where there is misery
Let us bring them relief
And surely we can change...
Something
The whole world's about to change
